True to the motto "Quality creates friendship," Austria's No. 1 Veltliner winemaker Bernhard Ott and master distiller Hans Reisetbauer have teamed up to bottle a unique yet traditional drink.
The Ott family has been cultivating their vineyards in Feuersbrunn am Wagram since 1889, and since 1993, Bernhard Ott has been running the estate in the fourth generation. Combining experience and tradition, they produce wines of the highest quality. Hans Reisetbauer, who founded his quality distillery in 1994, has shared a close friendship with Bernhard Ott since 1999. This friendship continually inspires them to set new standards in quality.
Over the years, numerous projects have emerged from their shared passion for high-quality products. But one particularly special result of this collaboration is the latest fine drink: the X.O. brandy made from Bernhard Ott's 1000 Roses wine, which Hans Reisetbauer wisely placed in oak barrels over 16 years ago. After what feels like an eternity of waiting, occasional tastings, and great anticipation, the time has finally come:
The X.O. brandy – Grüner Veltliner is now bottled and available for purchase!
A few select individuals have already had the privilege of tasting this unique brandy, including the highly regarded sommelier Paula Bosch, who wrote enthusiastically:
"Golden yellow like a rising morning sun, the 1000 Roses brandy radiates toward me during my debut tasting. A fragrance spectrum in a brandy like I've never experienced before excites my nose from the very first, cautious approach. Beginning with dried apricots, mandarin peel, honeycomb, fir honey, green peppercorns, cedarwood. Faded petals of a Rosa Centifolia, which, with their intoxicating scent, make people like me addicted to it.
The palate is filled with a velvety, satin-like texture with an apparent sweetness, which is harmoniously wrapped in the cool freshness of a silk scarf. In the finish, it then explodes, this small yet magnificent rose, leaving a complex, unique overall impression of recurring scents and a sense of well-being in the mouth that, with gentle pressure, impressively lingers on and sings with me for a long time. The all-encompassing honey-sweet cloud of scent remains in the long-empty glass, like a rock in the surf."
