From Wheat Fields to Exquisite Spirits
The production of this fine distillate involves great effort and expertise. It starts with the "Mulan" wheat variety, grown directly in the fields surrounding the Reisetbauer distillery in Austria. Using the gentle pot-still method, the wheat is distilled into an initial raw spirit with 40% ABV. After the second distillation, the coveted fine spirit is produced with an alcohol content of 84% ABV. During the maceration phase, where the "botanicals" rest in the alcohol, the aromas are carefully extracted and bound in the fine grain alcohol.
The exact recipe remains a closely guarded secret. Nevertheless, it is known that 27 selected "botanicals" are used, including coriander seeds, licorice root, angelica root, turmeric, and lemon zest. These botanicals come from more than 10 different countries, such as Vietnam, Spain, Romania, Egypt, Macedonia, the USA, Turkey, Indonesia, and China.
Without a doubt, juniper berries are the heart of BLUE GIN. These must be of exceptional freshness and spiciness, and they always come from the latest harvest in Mediterranean growing regions. The final touch as a premium gin is achieved through a concluding filtration process.
The Sloeberry Blue Gin combines the traditional BLUE GIN with organic sloe berry juice. The sloes impart their fruity note and characteristic red color. With a comparatively low alcohol content of 28% ABV for a gin, it is particularly popular during the summer months.
