From Wheat to Premium Spirit

The production of this fine distillate is a demanding and intricate task. The starting point is the "Mulan" wheat variety, which is grown directly in the fields around the Reisetbauer distillery in Austria. Using the gentle pot-still method, the wheat is distilled into a first raw distillate with 40% ABV. After the second distillation, the long-awaited fine distillate is produced, with an alcohol content of 84% ABV. During the maceration process, where spices are soaked, the aromas are carefully extracted and bound in the fine grain alcohol.

The exact recipe of the botanicals remains a closely guarded secret. However, it is known that it consists of 27 selected ingredients, including lemon peel, angelica root, coriander seeds, turmeric, and liquorice root. These come from more than 10 different countries, such as Egypt, China, Spain, Indonesia, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey, the USA, and Vietnam.

The most important ingredient of BLUE GIN, however, is the juniper berries. These must be particularly fresh and aromatic and always come from the latest harvest in Mediterranean regions. The final refinement as a premium gin is achieved through a final filtration process.

The Sloeberry Blue Gin combines the traditional BLUE GIN with organic sloe juice. The sloes give it its fruity note and characteristic red colour. With a comparatively low alcohol content of 28% ABV for a gin, it is particularly popular during the summer months.
