The Löwengang Uvaggio Storico is an exceptional red wine, originating from the historic vines of the Ansitz Löwengang estate in South Tyrol. The vineyards, planted around 1875 by Count Melchiori with the noble varieties Carménère, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, are now among the oldest in the region and provide ideal conditions for producing this characterful wine.
The wine shines in an intense cherry red, streaked with ruby reflections, already promising elegance and depth visually. On the nose, it reveals a rich bouquet of ripe raspberries, blackberries, and juicy cherries, underpinned by smoky-spicy and earthy notes. On the palate, the Löwengang Uvaggio Storico is powerful yet balanced, with a refined structure and delicate bitter nuances. The precise composition of the aromas leaves a lasting impression and offers a long-lasting tasting experience.
This wine perfectly complements dishes such as grilled beef, lamb, game, or spicy cheeses, making it the ideal companion for festive occasions or enjoyable evenings.
The grapes grow in the highest plots of the Ansitz Löwengang estate, at altitudes between 230 and 330 meters, where the gravelly and limestone soils impart a special minerality to the wine. After spontaneous mash fermentation, the wine matures for about a year in small and large wooden barrels, further deepening its complexity and richness.
The Löwengang Uvaggio Storico has remarkable aging potential and reaches its optimal drinking maturity between five and twenty years. Thus, whether enjoyed young or aged, it offers a fascinating taste experience that reflects the long tradition and craftsmanship of the estate.
