Our sommeliers have brought together two of their favourite German wineries in this package: Weingut Zehnthof Luckert from Franconia and Weingut Wittmann from Rheinhessen. Both combine the highest craftsmanship and sustainable cultivation to create an exceptional wine package.
Winery Zehnthof Luckert
Weingut Zehnthof Luckert is located in Sulzfeld am Main, amidst the ancient Triassic limestone soils that give the wines their unique minerality. These soils consist of weathered, fossil-rich shell limestone that nourishes the grapes and imparts the wines with a distinctive salty note and pronounced freshness.
Particularly the Silvaner grape variety, but also the Yellow Muscat and Chardonnay, reflect the unadulterated character of the soils. Luckert relies on long yeast ageing and spontaneous fermentation, which gives the wines additional depth and structure. By avoiding any fining or filtration, wines are produced that are distinguished by a special expressiveness. The style of the wines is marked by subtle refinement, with a clear focus on preserving the character of the terroir in the long term, while creating elegant, structured wines that are characterised by their depth and durability.
Winery Wittmann
Weingut Wittmann, located in Westhofen, Rheinhessen, cultivates its vineyards on clay-rich marl soils. These soils are a mixture of limestone, clay, and loam, giving the wines a fine balance between power and finesse. Wittmann’s wines, especially the Rieslings, are renowned for their intense fruit, vibrant acidity, and pronounced minerality.
For generations, Wittmann has pursued a biodynamic approach to viticulture, which not only conserves the soil but also promotes the biodiversity of the vineyards. The deep-rooted vines develop a natural resilience and transport the unique character of the terroir into the bottle. The wines are always spontaneously fermented, giving them natural complexity and bringing out the influence of the vintage and the soil more intensely.
Why this package?
The combination of these two wineries offers a fascinating interplay of different terroirs and wine styles. While Luckert’s wines captivate with their fine, chalky minerality and cool elegance, Wittmann’s wines impress with their structure, freshness, and expressive fruit. Both wineries work organically without compromise and place great value on preserving and promoting nature, which is reflected in the quality and depth of character of the wines. With this package, you get an insight into two renowned VDP wineries in Germany, whose wines offer a special experience for both connoisseurs and lovers of authentic, sustainable winemaking.
